Linarol-M 2.5/500 works by enhancing your body's response to insulin (a hormone that aids in blood sugar control). It also reduces sugar production, lowering blood sugar levels.

✔️ Side Effects of Linarol-M 2.5/500

Nasopharyngitis, diarrhea, and increased risk of hypoglycemia with sulfonylureas.

✔️ Quick Suggestions:

• Metformin + Linagliptin should be taken with food to lower the chances of having an upset stomach.
• Take it in addition to regular exercise and a healthy diet to lower the levels of blood sugar.
• Chances of weight gain and low blood sugar are lesser as compared to other diabetes medicines.
• Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) may occur when taken along with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol, or by delaying/skipping a meal. Carry a sugar source with you for immediate relief.
• Monitor your blood sugar level regularly while you are taking this medicine.

✔️ Indications of Linarol-M 2.5/500

This information is for Glinta-M, a combination of Linagliptin and Metformin Hydrochloride, used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when both drugs are appropriate. 

✔️ Pharmacology

• Linagliptin: Inhibits DPP-4 enzyme, increasing incretin hormone levels, stimulating insulin release, and reducing glucagon secretion.
• Metformin Hydrochloride: Reduces glucose production in the liver, improves insulin sensitivity, and does not cause hypoglycemia.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Linarol-M 2.5/500

• Immediate-release: Maximum dose: 2.5 mg Linagliptin and 1000 mg Metformin twice daily with meals.
  • Start with 2.5 mg Linagliptin/500 mg Metformin twice daily for patients not on Metformin.
• Extended-release: Maximum dose: 5 mg Linagliptin and 2000 mg Metformin once daily with a meal.

✔️ Interaction

• Cationic drugs: May compete with Metformin for renal excretion.
• Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors: Increased risk of lactic acidosis.
• CYP3A4 and P-glycoprotein inducers: May reduce Linagliptin's efficacy.

✔️ Contraindications

Renal impairment, metabolic acidosis, and hypersensitivity to Linagliptin or Metformin.

Use only if necessary during pregnancy. Exercise caution in breastfeeding.

Monitor for lactic acidosis, vitamin B12 deficiency, and pancreatitis. Discontinue before surgeries or diagnostic procedures requiring restricted food and fluid intake.

Supportive treatment. Metformin is dialyzable, but Linagliptin is not.
